The story
About Murakami House
Otokichi and Asayo Murakami and their 10 children lived in this house from 1929 to 1942. Otokichi was a trained boatbuilder, and Asayo worked in local canneries, berry farms and vegetable farms. In 1942, the Murakamis were forcibly uprooted from their home during the Japanese Canadian Internment. The Murakami family has provided information and artefacts to share their story through exhibits, documentaries and interactive activities.
